Millhouse Wedding Photographer – A Rainy Day That Still Shone Bright
There are big dresses and then there are BIG dresses, and Ginnette’s had a two-metre-long train. There are rainy wedding days, and then there are those very rare few in Ireland when the rain falls in bucketloads all day long, running down the streets in little streams, and it never stops for a minute. In six years as a Millhouse wedding photographer, I’ve only seen a handful of days like that.
A two-metre-long dress and constant rain in a rustic, industrial country house venue is a true test of a bride’s bravery. The Millhouse in Meath has such a special charm, even when the weather doesn’t play along. The team there are amazing, appearing with armfuls of umbrellas and endless kindness, making sure everyone stays comfortable and relaxed. And somehow, everyone triumphed.
When you’re planning a summer wedding, you probably get a little tired of everyone telling you that the weather won’t matter on the day. But they say it because it’s true. Ginnette spent her morning receiving notes every hour from Brian, little reminders of how loved she is. Brian spent his morning with family and friends he hadn’t seen in years, home from Chicago for their big day.
There was a beautiful moment when their little boy, Grayson, walked in and saw his mother glowing like a princess in her fairytale dress. Their ceremony was full of emotion as all three – Ginnette, Brian, and Grayson – said their own vows to each other. Their families and friends shed quiet tears, celebrating not just a marriage, but a family coming together.
Later, the speeches had everyone laughing and crying. The dance floor was full, the bar buzzing with stories, and the rain still fell outside as everyone stayed wrapped up in the warmth of it all.
As a Meath wedding photographer, I love bright sun and blue skies, but those things aren’t what make the day. They’re not what make up the photographs you’ll treasure. The ingredients of a beautiful wedding gallery are always there – love, laughter, connection, and the people who matter most. Because on a wedding day, the weather doesn’t matter to the things that truly do.
if you’re thinking of getting married in the Millhouse, let’s talk.
