Wicklow Wedding Venues: A Photographer’s Guide to BrookLodge and Tinakilly House

I’ve spent many years photographing beautiful personal weddings across Wicklow and to be honest, I sometimes wishing i was a Wicklow wedding photographer because two venues I love love love to return to are BrookLodge and Tinakilly House. This guide is for couples planning a relaxed meaningful wedding in the Wicklow countryside, especially those looking for a venue with charm, history and stunning photo locations.

BrookLodge and Macreddin Village

Why BrookLodge Is One of Wicklow’s Most Loved Wedding Venues

Now, bear in mind, I may be a little bit biased here as myself and Kevin got married in Brooklodge. We’re also on their recommended suppliers list as ‘official’ Brooklodge wedding photographers but I’ll try to keep this as fair as possible 🙂

BrookLodge and Macreddin Village is a secluded hideaway in the Wicklow mountains. It has everything in one place: a forest chapel, a beautiful village green, the Strawberry Tree restaurant and some of the warmest hospitality you’ll find anywhere. Couples love it for its organic food, peaceful setting and the way it feels like a retreat from the world.

As a photographer, I love BrookLodge for its light. The forest chapel is soft and quiet. The walk across the stream offers beautiful backdrops at any time of year. The bridal suite has gentle even light for getting ready. And the Strawberry Tree restaurant glows at golden hour.

BrookLodge weddings are never rushed. Everything flows. The space allows you to be fully present and that’s what makes the photographs so meaningful.

You can see some of that magic in these real weddings:

Tinakilly Country House

Tinakilly House is a 19th-century manor just outside Wicklow Town overlooking the Irish Sea. It feels like stepping into a different era with polished wood floors, high ceilings, open fireplaces and rose gardens.

Ceremonies can take place inside or out on the lawn beneath ancient trees. The bridal suite has beautiful natural light. The front steps, conservatory and curved paths are all perfect for portraits without ever needing to stage a thing.

If you’re dreaming of an elegant country house wedding with a touch of formality but lots of room for fun, Tinakilly is a wonderful choice.

BrookLodge or Tinakilly — Which One Suits You Best?

Choose BrookLodge if:

  • You want a relaxed nature-filled wedding in a private village setting
  • You love the idea of a forest chapel and a flowing all-in-one day
  • You want organic food, warm tones and quiet moments

Choose Tinakilly if:

  • You love period architecture and Victorian interiors
  • You want sea views, rose gardens and a formal reception room
  • You want a romantic estate feel with space for larger celebrations

Both venues photograph beautifully and work in every season. They feel authentic to Ireland — grounded, romantic and quietly luxurious.

Photographing Weddings in Wicklow

My style is quiet, emotional and documentary. I want you to feel like you’re just living the day, not performing for the camera. That’s why venues like BrookLodge and Tinakilly work so well. They allow you to move freely and be yourselves.

Because I’m based in Dublin, I photograph weddings across Wicklow regularly. I know where the light falls, how to move through the day without stress and how to capture the little moments that matter most.

You can learn more about my approach on my about page or read some kind words from past couples on my wedding photography testimonials page.
