Millhouse Wedding Photographer

Millhouse, Co. Meath.

There are big dresses and then there are big dresses — Ginnette's had a two-metre train. And there are rainy Irish wedding days, and then there are the rare ones where it falls in bucketloads from morning to night, running down the streets in little streams, never letting up for a minute. In six years photographing weddings at The Millhouse in Slane, I've seen a handful of days like that. This was one of them.

A two-metre dress and relentless rain in a rustic, industrial country house venue is a real test of a bride's nerve. But The Millhouse, Meath has a charm that holds up even when the sky doesn't cooperate. The team there are wonderful — appearing with armfuls of umbrellas and quiet kindness, making sure everyone felt comfortable and relaxed. And somehow, everyone triumphed.

When you're planning a summer wedding you probably get tired of people telling you the weather won't matter on the day. But they say it because it's true. Ginnette spent her morning receiving notes from Brian every hour — little reminders of how loved she was. Brian spent his with family and friends he hadn't seen in years, home from Chicago for the occasion.

There was a beautiful moment when their little boy Grayson walked in and saw his mother glowing in her fairytale dress. Their ceremony was full of emotion as all three — Ginnette, Brian, and Grayson — said their own vows to each other. Their families shed quiet tears, celebrating not just a marriage but a family coming together.

The speeches had everyone laughing and crying. The dance floor was full, the bar buzzing with stories, and the rain still fell outside as everyone stayed wrapped up in the warmth of the day.

As a Meath wedding photographer, I love blue skies as much as anyone — but they're not what make the photographs you'll treasure for the rest of your life. The ingredients of a beautiful wedding gallery are always there regardless: love, laughter, connection, and the people who matter most. The weather never changes any of that.

If you're thinking about a Millhouse Slane wedding, I'd love to hear from you.
