Powerscourt Hotel Wedding Photography | Tracey & Eoin
Elegant, Joyful and Full of Sunshine in County Wicklow
Tracey and Eoin’s couple photos are full of laughter and affection which is kind of amazing because I never ask couples to kiss or pose a certain way. They just did what felt natural and it showed. They were happy and in love and completely at ease. Probably why they got married and had this beautiful Powerscourt Hotel wedding surrounded by their favourite people.
It was one of those perfect Irish summer days where the sun never seems to fade. The gardens at Powerscourt were in full bloom, the air was warm, and the mood was easy and light. The whole day felt like a garden party with hugs and craic and that kind of joy that comes when everyone is exactly where they want to be.
A Morning at Powerscourt Hotel
Tracey and Eoin both got ready at the hotel which always makes the morning feel calm and carefree. Tracey spent the early hours with her bridesmaids in a suite filled with laughter, coffee, fresh flowers and beautiful trinkets (like her gorgeous nod to her grandparents on her bouquet). Her hair was styled by Kathleen Riordan, makeup by Clare Hogan and Natasha O’Hare, and her elegant gown by Mariana Hardwick looked made for her.
Eoin was just a few doors away with his groomsmen, looking sharp in their tuxes, thrilled to need sunglasses. The atmosphere in both rooms was full of excitement and a holiday buzz with so many people travelling from Australia (where Dubliners Tracey and Eoin had spent the last few years living) for the big event.
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place in the Powerscourt Hotel itself in the gorgeous secret garden (one of the favourite places for photos!), led by Elizabeth Hadnett. It was elegant, heartfelt and deeply personal. It was smiles and laughter the whole way through, also that delirious sort of can’t believe our luck joy you get when you pull off an outdoor ceremony in Ireland.
The Celebrations
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed the gardens where Oisin Foley, a mind reader and entertainer, kept everyone laughing during the drinks reception. The atmosphere was pure joy. The floral design by The French Touch was incredible: soft, romantic and timeless, the kind of styling that perfectly fits Powerscourt’s natural beauty.
Couple Photographs in the beautiful grounds of Powerscourt
Champagne towers have made a big return in recent years and Tracey and Eoin are not ones to miss out on an extra opportunity for craic. So before there couple photos there was a champagne tower, more laughter and few sneak champagnes to make the walk around the Powerscourt gardens even more fun. It was fun, I could chat to them forever, the light was gorgeous, we were all having the time of our lives (briefly though because remember the goal here is classic elegant couple photos but quick and let’s get you back to your party!)
Formals
Sure there are some equally beautiful settings for family photos but none more beautiful than that secret garden at Powerscourt. It makes me want to dress my family up and pop them in the spot some random day just for the photo! Anyway how lucky are these guys to have a wedding where this is the backdrop for those all important family photos that will be cherished and passed down the generations.
Dinner in the Ballroom
The ballroom was filled with candlelight, laughter and the clinking of glasses as everyone settled into an evening of entertaining speeches and high energy from the happy couple, lots of hugs and lots of shots. Their cake, beautifully crafted by Denise O’Reilly, was almost too pretty to cut but Tracey and Eoin did cut it and also made cutting a cake look really fun. The look was pure elegance, the vibe was pure fun. My kinda day!
Dancing with the Bentley Boys & a Sparkler Exit
I’ll be honest it’s not really a sparkler exit, it’s more an interlude of sparkler fun to keep us all entertained while the band do final sound checks after dinner. The bride and groom don’t actually exit, that would be weird (who’d do the first dance?!) Mostly they just hand sparklers to grown adults in their 30s who use the opportunity to shout “wingardium leviosa” while waving them in the air. I’m not judging, I’d do the same (and obviously I’ll always say “it’s leviosa” under my breath) Anyway I love a sparkler “interlude”, it’s just more play with light then more play with light to bring magic to the first dance. Play is how it feels when a couple are this fun. Play doesn’t less serious or worthy, it makes them better.
Throughout the day, Tracey and Eoin stayed true to their vision. Elegant and classy but never too serious, never stuffy. They wanted their photos to show the fun, the emotion, the nerves and the laughter: all the things that make a wedding day unforgettable. They enjoyed the hell out of their day and I got to enjoy the hell out of documenting it. Win win. Thanks for a really memorable ones guys x
A Dream for a Powerscourt Hotel Wedding Photographer
The Powerscourt Hotel is one of Ireland’s most iconic wedding venues. Its sweeping views, manicured gardens and soft evening light make it a dream for documentary-style photography. From the grand staircase to the gardens that roll down towards the Sugarloaf, every corner of Powerscourt offers something special.
For me, the magic is always in the in-between moments. The hugs that linger, the little glances, the laughter and in jokes, the pure joy of a sunny day with all your nearest and dearest. That’s what I loved most about Tracey and Eoin’s wedding — it was elegant and polished and planned to perfection but it was completely full of heart and fully lived.
